PhD Topic:

I am working on the debate around memory and history within Postcolonial India. My work encompasses range of discussions around subalternity, sites of memory, historical rememberance and so on. I am particularly engaging with the Birsa Movement of late 19th and early 20th century of colonial Jharkhand, (India) and the memorial reconstruction of past in present through creative frontiers of recalling. My work is heavily influenced by dominant framework of memory studies, oral history and in particular Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak's contribution within subaltern studies.
