Summary of research interests and expertise:

I am an art historian who works on the colonial Americas through the lenses of religion and gender.  My doctoral research focused on the Dominican convent of Santa Catalina de Sena, in Arequipa, Peru and the relationship of its inhabitants to the built environment of the convent and its artworks.

My current research project, entitled,"Transpacific Sisters: Art and the Lived Experience of Peruvian and Philippine Religious Women" focuses on cloistered religious women on both sides of the Spanish Pacific and the role of artwork in shaping the contours of their daily and religious lives.
