Summary of research interests and expertise:

I am historian of Nicaragua and US-Nicaraguan relations. My PhD research considered the relationship between agencies of the US government and the Nicaraguan Contras during Nicaragua's Contra War (1981-1990). I am currently working two projects: a history of pesticide use in Nicaragua, funded by a British Academy small grant; and an indiscipinary study of the impact of volcanic emissions from Nicaragua's Masaya volcano, supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund.
