Michela Coletta received her PhD in Latin American History from University College London in December 2011. Her doctoral research focused on notions of decadence and the pathological in relation to modernity and identity in the Southern Cone at the fin-de-siècle.
She has taught Latin American history at University College London and Spanish American literature at King's College London. Before joining the Institute of Latin American Studies she was teaching fellow in Hispanic Studies in the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at the University of Bristol.
At ILAS Michela is carrying out her new project on ideas of nature and modernity in twentieth-century intellectual debates with a focus on Argentina. The project aims at shedding new light on Latin America's original contribution to reformulating the nature/culture divide.
