In my PhD at the University of Bristol I researched the reception of Heinrich von Kleist in literature and theatre of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). I own a Master's degree in German Literature and protestant Theology from the University of Leipzig and the Université Aix-Marseille. My wider research interests cover literature (around 1800 and East Germany), theatre and film studies (particularly DEFA films), as well as modernist architecture and urban planning and its representation in and creation through literature and film. I also serve as the Postgraduate/Early Career Representative on the executive committee of the Association of German Studies in the UK and Ireland (AGS).
