Elizabeth Williamson is a Reader in Architectural History and Executive Editor of the Victoria County History (www.victoriacountyhistory.ac.uk)within the IHR. She was previously Architectural Editor of the VCH and Deputy Editor of The Buildings of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales (Pevsner Architecural Guides). From 2003-10 she was a Commissioner of English Heritage (www.english-heritage.org.uk), has been a member of its Advisory Committee and London Advisory Committee,and is conversant with current political and social influences on the historic environment. She now chairs English Heritage's Historic Parks and Gardens Panel and is a member of its Designation Review Committee. She is a member of the British Academy Hearth Tax Committee and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.

She has a broad understanding from physical and documentary evidence of the development of the British built environment in a wide range of localities and has a particular interest in twentieth-century architecture and planning. She has thirty years experience in publishing, particularly of series.
